Each kit bag is covered in antimicrobial surface material with specialist zip tracks. This means the entire bag can be easily disinfected with a quick wipe. The delicate and sterile items a community nurse carries are kept safe and secure in the bag’s internal compartments and its sturdy outer structure, preventing them from being damaged or contaminated in transit. At the same time, the bag is compact, meaning nurses aren’t lugging trip hazards into patients’ homes. The bag has one last trick up its sleeve too – it folds completely open, with the internal compartments being fully removable. This transforms the bag into a large sterile surface – nurses can lay out their items, or even support a patient’s limb, treating their patient on a surface as clean as any to be found in their local GP practice. This innovation was made possible by working closely with community nurses during the development stage, where the prototype was adapted to allow this to happen. The end result is a big win for both nurses and patients, with safety at its heart.
